Ng Chok Sin: PKR’s internal politicking wrought extended water rationing in Selangor

Ng Chok SinSelangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim should learn from Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that the head of the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBA) general manager must roll if the PBA fails to fulfil its promise to ensure no water rationing in Penang.

Abdul Khalid announced in Kuantan last night that the water rationing in Klang Valley is expected to end next week but he changed his remarks a day later by saying that the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) State Government will only review on the water rationing decision on Friday, 25 April 2014, again ignoring the sufferings of the people.

I hope that Abdul Khalid and other PR elected representatives especially those from PKR will not focus solely on their Party election whereupon they neglect their duty as the people’s representatives and the basic needs of the Selangorians.

The water crisis is obviously the result of politicking and PKR’s internal fighting, which caused the rakyat to suffer for the past 3 months at least and prolonged the water rationing period.

It is acceptable to have water rationing during a drought but it is the rainy season now. The reason given by the State Government to continue the water rationing is that there was no rainfall at the water catchment areas. This is just an excuse to shed responsibility.

Selangorians do not want any bureaucratic excuses. We want the State Government to be responsible and resolve the problem instead of telling us the problem, which will not help to resolve the crisis at all.
