Senior citizens aged 60 & above in Klang Valley encouraged to “walk-in” into any vaccination centres (PPVs) to receive jabs
Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) Khairy Jamaluddin has informed that starting 17 July 2021, a special lane will be set up for senior citizens aged 60 and above who have yet to receive their Covid-19 vaccination appointments, can walk in to any vaccination centre (PPV)in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to be habbed..
All senior citizens are urged to go for vaccination as soon as possible, to enable Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to reduce the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic, and daily life and operations, as we once knew before, may resume.
It has been nearly two years since the outbreak of the coronavirus. Be it politics, economics, culture, and education, daily life for most people have been affected in one way or another. Mass vaccination to achieve herd immunity can contribute towards reducing the occurrence of all unfortunate things.
On 15 July 2021, Health Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Adham Baba announced that senior citizens aged 60 years and above, living in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur may “walk-in” into any PPV to be inoculated.

However, hours later, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) suddenly announced on the contrary, advising senior citizens against walking into any PPV unless they have an appointment. https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2021/07/15/walk-in-jabs-for-the-elderly-only-in-the-klang-valley/
This caused confusion among the public.
Since 16 July 2021, many people have called to inquire. After the small-scale vaccination in Serdang, I noticed several elderly people wandering and inquired. Therefore, on 16 July 2021, I contacted the mega PPV Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) in Seri Kembangan, Selangor and spoke to the person in charge of the center. After a phone call, the person in charge said that there may not be sufficient supplies for the current daily schedule of vaccines. However, the PPV was also sympathetic with the elderly who arrived for the jab, and on 17 July 2021, vaccines were specially mobilised vaccines to help the elderly receive their doses.
The person in charge at MIECC was also very enthusiastic, and announced that the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to COVID-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) would notify senior citizens via SMS as soon as possible on any “walk-in” vaccination.
I am very grateful to all the staff of the PPV. Their contribution and enthusiasm have helped many people in Selangor and others residing nearby.
MCA Puchong (Serdang district) has always been active ensuring inoculations for the masses. We give our best commitment in registering the public for vaccination, following up with the registrants every day, informing or distributing vaccination notices, and assisting in arranging transportation for the disabled or the elderly or needy groups.
